Another Friday enjoying this meme hosted by Hoarding Books. The special theme for this Friday is Military/Patriotic/Veterans Day. My choice is Waiting for You by Abigail Strom.
Erin Shaw has always had a hopeless crush on her friend’s big brother, Jake Landry. Jake is now home after a decade of military service and can’t help but notice that Erin is all grown up. War has left him with scars invisible to anyone but him, and a relationship is the last thing he’s looking for.
Here’s the first (and second) line:
-Erin Shaw felt like she was in high school again. She was sitting at a table with her friend, Beth, staring at Jake Landry from across the room and hoping she wasn’t being too obvious about it.-
He certainly noticed her noticing him. But hey, that’s stuff of romance novels.
