Once you are nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award, if you wish to accept your nomination, you must follow these rules:

• Generate a post about the award.
• Thank the blogger who nominated you, and provide a link to their blog.
• Write a brief story about how your blog began.
• Provide two pieces of advice to newbie bloggers.
• Select 15 blogs to nominate.
• Comment on each nominee’s blog and provide a link to the post that you created about the award.

How My Blog Began

On little more than a whim, is how my blog started.  I was looking at a video from the latest online ALLi conference and an author was talking about how bookblogging was a great way to network.  I never even knew about bookblogs.  I looked some up online and thought wow that looks like fun.  I read a lot but didn’t have an outlet to discuss most of the books I read.  Here was this fantastic world full of people talking books, more books, and even more books!  I was thrilled to discover it and was immediately welcomed into the fold.

Blogging Advice from Me:

I’m a baby in the blogosphere and have yet to amass a true truckload of expertise.  That said, there are some bits and pieces I’ve picked up over the last two months through experience or from taking advice from more veteran bloggers.

1. Post scheduling is a life saver.  Whenever I have a chance, I try to prepare several posts and schedule them to go out.  I can’t imagine having to scramble to create a post every day.  There are some nights when I do have to create something quickly to go out the next morning, but I try to avoid that.  It also gives me a bit of breathing room to go bloghopping when there is less pressure to produce something.
2. Don’t be afraid to engage with other bloggers, even the ones who have thousands of followers and years of experience.  These guys can provide you with inspiration and guidance.  I’ve found the bookbloggers to be extremely friendly and helpful.  Besides, everyone likes comments on their posts, even the veterans.
