Until I get dumped into my worst nightmare, with no way to escape.

My perfect non-Holidays vacation now doesn’t seem so perfect anymore.

But then I meet him. Tall, handsome, caring. And asking me to partake in the tinsels and Santa madness.

With his help, can I survive through the two most awful weeks of my life?

I may be partial to Christmas on a tropical island… just saying…

Let me tell you, the Christmas factor in this story is sky high! When Gavin and Aisha end up thrown together in a Christmas-themed island resort, readers are treated to some sweet and hilarious descriptions of the decor and events! Throw in a couple of charming, meddling seniors and the scene is set for a vacation romance to blossom.

Aisha has serious issues with Christmas festivities. Her Christmas dislike is almost phobic and stems from an extremely hurtful event in her past. It’s quite a while until we get to the meat of that part of the story, so in several instances, Aisha’s very dramatic reactions to certain Christmas elements seem over the top. If readers are left somewhat bemused, imagine how poor Gavin must feel!

Gavin has his own hang-ups with the festive season and uses his vacation getaway to process some of his emotions. In doing so he manages to help Aisha confront a few of her own.

The chemistry between these two is instant. Their personalities mesh quite well and they are able to see each other for who they really are. I loved reading the story and seeing their relationship blossom. Aisha has her own journey to go through to fully heal from her past and I love how that part of the story is handled. She has to get herself in order before she can truly be ready to let love in!

Oh… one of my favourite parts was the check-in with a couple of our favourite characters from the Carter Hills gang… including Carter and April! So cute!

Overall, Stars and Country is a spicy-sweet holiday read that I’m so glad I tried!

I give Stars and Country 4/5 espresso shots.
