Review and Blog Tour of Christmas at Snowflake Lodge by CP Ward @rararesources

Plumber Jessica Lemond is determined not to follow in her parents footsteps by living off her famous grandfather’s fortune. However, when the old timer himself elopes to Scotland with suspicions over the recent death of his much younger third wife hanging over his head and a private detective on his tail, it is left to Jessica to follow and clear up the mess. Happy to escape from her nightmarish lodger Doreen, she heads to the remote Snowflake Lodge with her young trainee Kirsten in tow.

However, Snowflake Lodge – with its oddball staff and very dodgy plumbing – is not how it appears in the brochure. Among the beautiful Scottish scenery, and with more hot chocolate and mince pies than she can possibly handle, can Jessica find something she didn’t even know she was looking for?

CP Ward is always a favourite at this time of year. Here’s his latest festive offering!

Christmas at Snowflake Lodge is most definitely a story chock full of Christmas treats and sentiments.

The best parts:

The tale is filled of Christmas cheer. We have pages and pages of decorations to explore. Not just that, but how these lights and trees and baubles mean different things to different people. It’s delightfully sentimental.

The Snowflake Lodge itself is filled with such enchanting characters from the ‘trumped’ up Barry to the quietly thoughtful Mr. Dawes.

Skiing lessons, hot chocolates and sleigh rides top it all off.

The story is overall quite sweet and Jessica and James make the most darling couple.

A couple things I found could have been a bit better:

The story moves very slowly. However, there is some quickening of the pace towards the end, as all the ends are tied up and some wonderfully surprising connections are made.

I do wish Jessica could have gotten a better handle on her crazy flat mate. I would have loved to see some real growth in her character there.

My favourite part: Jessica’s relationship with her grandpa and how she’s willing to love him, protect him and accept him all at once. They make the most charming pair!

I give Christmas at Snowflake Lodge 3.5/5 espresso shots.
