Blog Tour: Fool Me Twice at Christmas by Camilla Isley @rararesources @camillaisley

It’s my pleasure to feature Camilla Isley on The Cozy Pages today. Seriously, this may be one of the Christmasiest books out there.

There are two types of relationships: fake and real.

Chuck and Kate’s used to be real, oh-so-real. But after she broke his heart four months ago, leaving him, it became all just pretense for the sake of their entwined families.

With parents who are best friends and business partners, it’s not easy for Chuck and Kate to announce they’ve split up. But with the holidays looming over them, they can no longer keep pretending.

They head home for Christmas, determined to tell the truth—and end up accidentally engaged instead. The more they try to pull apart, the more the Universe seems to push them back together, shortening the road to the altar. And when just-for-show kisses stir up forgotten feelings, things get even more complicated.

Now, with the midnight hour approaching, will Chuck and Kate’s relationship turn out to be fake or real?

The Christmas Element: It’s super festive up in the story. The perfect winter setting, with snow covered roofs, glittering sidewalks, welcoming fireplaces and the most delicious hot chocolate drinks. Okay, I couldn’t actually taste the hot chocolate but they were described so beautifully, I really wanted one! Even the descriptions for the Christmas sweaters and pajamas are adorable. They’re never over done and hit the right spot for a Christmas tale.

The Setting: Umm… a small Michigan town that revolves around a chocolate factory at Christmas time??!! Seriously! I may have put on some pounds just from reading this book! The cute factor is so high. I loved the descriptions of the town, the homes and buildings. Best of all, however, are the people who make up the town and all the antics they get up to and inspire.

The couple: Kate and Chuck were always meant to be. Their parents practically bonded them in an arrange marriage… good thing they happened to fall in love with each other before that could actually happen! I think Chuck is the sweetest book boyfriend. Yes, he could probably do with a bit more moxy and a little wake up would have worked wonders and helped him not to take Kate for granted. However, there are times Kate comes across as downright ‘b’ word. She’s a bit self-centred and unnecessarily unkind to Chuck. I can’t say I liked her much for most of the story, but there are some redeeming moments!

The fake engagement: Oh my goodness, this storyline had some hilarious moments. There were also a few really contrived and over-the-top bits, but they can be forgiven in the spirit of a this being a Christmas rom-com and all.

The rest of Kate and Chuck’s family: Absolutely adorable! I really enjoyed their interactions with one another and the scene with Kate’s parents in the closest is one of my favourites! Spying gets you nowhere good, but apparently spices things up a bit!

It’s October and time to start thinking about your Christmas reading list. Fool Me Twice at Christmas is the absolute perfect feel-good, make you smile Christmas treat. I give it 4/5 merry espresso shots.

Author Bio

Camilla is an engineer turned writer after she quit her job to follow her husband on an adventure abroad.
She’s a cat lover, coffee addict, and shoe hoarder. Besides writing, she loves reading–duh!–cooking, watching bad TV, and going to the movies–popcorn, please. She’s a bit of a foodie, nothing too serious. A keen traveler, Camilla knows mosquitoes play a role in the ecosystem, and she doesn’t want to starve all those frog princes out there, but she could really live without them.
