Schemes and Bad Dreams by Trixie Silvertale – Review

Book 15 of the Mitzy Moon Mysteries could be my favorite yet! I gobbled this newest release up in just about a day.

A blast from the past. A dangerous decision. This time, our psychic sleuth becomes the victim…

Mitzy Moon loves her new home town. But when history comes calling, she’s tempted by distant memories and forced to reconsider. Now her sudden disappearance could be an impromptu road trip… or something more sinister.

Mitzy seems to have fallen off the map, but her boyfriend, the handsome sheriff, continues to receive playful texts from the absentee heiress. Meanwhile, her entitled feline, Ghost-ma, and a powerful alchemist suspect foul play. Mitzy’s captor may have control of her phone, but he’s underestimated his prey.

Can Mitzy outsmart her jailer, or will her story be laid to rest?

Schemes and Bad Dreams is the fifteenth book in the hilarious paranormal cozy mystery series, Mitzy Moon Mysteries. If you like snarky heroines, supernatural misfits, and a splash of romance, then you’ll love Trixie Silvertale’s crooked caper.

Available on Amazon and via Kindle Unlimited.

Schemes and Bad Dreams is one of those witchy cozies that remind me why I love the genre so much.

The suspense and little twists kept me gripped. In fact, I was half way through a particular chapter when I told myself I’d put the book down by the end of it and go to sleep. Nope! There was this new little twist that woke me right up, drove the sleep away and kept me reading for almost another hour!

I also found the backstories and events of this particular book to be a bit more intense (even darker) than the norm for this series. Given how fun and light it usually is, I really enjoyed this extra edge to the tale.

The mystery to solve in this one is who kidnapped Mitzy. Yup! Mitzy is taken hostage and she’s not sure who did it or why.

In a delightful change, readers are treated to a few chapters from Erick’s perspective! It’s a good way to carry this particular story and keep the suspense and mystery around Mitzy’s kidnapping going. It’s also quite refreshing to view Mitzy’s crazy, magical world through his eyes and I thoroughly enjoyed the switch up.

There are a couple side stories for us to follow as well. We want to know more about this friend, Beni, who shows up unannounced. Is Beni up to no good or is he just looking to reconnect as he claims? Then we have the Pin Cherry Pie contest. Will Odell emerge victorious? Lol. The descriptions of all those pies sure made me hungry!

Overall, I adored Schemes and Bad Dreams. I was sold on this series a long time ago (well since book one which I discovered earlier this year). This book, however, exceeded expectations and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

I give it 5/5 enchanted espresso shots.
