Read and TBR for May and June

It’s June and it’s my birthday month! A birthday I’ve been on two sides of the fence about. Lol. Ultimately, I have to say the age doesn’t look too bad on me at all. Besides, the older I get, the more comfortable I feel in my own skin and in the decisions I make. Here’s looking forward to a new decade!

On the work front, the semester ends soon. One more teaching week then exam week. Then some well-deserved rest! I hope my department gets that memo. Haha. Probably not. I’m sure there’ll be a couple ‘projects’ before vacation begins. Ah well, it will all still end with a few weeks of relaxation. The boys will finish their term around the same time so there’ll be some respite from their schedule too. of course, then it’s up to me to fill their days… hmm… wonder what books they’ll de diving into…

On the topic of books, May’s reading list came in at 8 books. The genres were a bit more varied this month, and I enjoyed each of them.

Here’s what I read in May.

Read and TBR

The Cozy Mysteries were The Ghost and the Haunted Portrait, The Art of Betrayal, Charms and Firearms and Frightfully Fortune. The romance stories were Pink and Country (contemporary) and The Honest Liar (romantic suspense). The Bear and the Nightingale was my historical fiction and Weathering Old Souls can be considered a multi-genre tale. I’m a bit behind on the reviews!

Two of these books came via my Kindle Unlimited subscription; and two were from the Netgalley collection. Finally, I knocked one off the physical shelf!! I even made a little headway in Don Quixote. Still though… need to ramp up the reading on that one.

I’m adding 7 to my TBR for this month. I’ve got a few author/ blog tour requests from authors or series I really enjoy. I’m looking forward to those. I also want to tackle a couple books on my KU shelf that have been there a while. Here’s the plan…

Beauty Expos Are Murder by Libby Klein

The Romeo Arrangement by Nicole Snow

Castaways and Longer Days by Trixie Silvertale

A Summer Wedding For the Cornish Midwife by Jo Bartlett

The Fire God Tour by Michelle Sims

The Marquess Next Door by Virginia Heath

How Not To Be a Loser by Beth Moran

What about you? What are you looking forward to reading this month? Feel free to share links to your June reading lists in the comments.

  1. happy birthday for June, Nina!! I’m not sure what birthday it is (okay, so I can guess LOL!!) but I have decided to be highly diplomatic and say Happy 25th Birthday!! Glad you will soon get some downtime to spend with the boys. Oh, and I am amazed you are still persevering with Don Quixote. I reckon a few pages every month and you’ll get it read by your 40th birthday….
