Izzy Sage should be on top of the world but the revenant threat has her watching her back. Things only get worse when an oddball cult looking for a door to another world show up on Belle Isle and start circling the parking lot while demanding entrance to the other side.
Izzy is out of her league when it comes to dealing with the group – especially their charismatic leader who pushes all of her buttons – and when a body drops outside the aquarium, her suspicion is piqued.
As much as she wants to focus on the revenants, the cult has to take priority. The more Izzy digs, the more disturbing information she finds. It seems at least one member has ties to Paris’ past and another cult run amok … and further ties just might lead to the current threat hanging over the reaper world’s heads.
Death is basically knocking on the door between worlds and it’s anybody’s guess who will answer.
That all pales in comparison to the bigger news. The Grimlock grandparents, Emmet and Mary, have arrived in Detroit … and they’re not happy. They have plans for each Grimlock – and their significant others – and they refuse to back down.
It’s utter chaos in the reaper world and there’s trouble at every turn. Izzy has to sort it all out … if she survives long enough to untangle an unsavory bundle of threads that lead to mayhem and destruction, that is.
Available on Amazon and via Kindle Unlimited.

Izzy is back with the Grimlocks in tow and they’re ready for a brand new adventure, even if this one is closer to home than they’d like.
The mystery to solve this time is what’s the story behind the appearance of a cult like group who wants access to Izzy’s place of work. Their presence becomes a bigger issue when a girl goes missing and Izzy discovers an injured youth in the woods close to the aquarium. On top of that, there seems to be a trend when it comes to the disappearing girls. Izzy and the gang have to search Belle Isle, Detroit and the reaper archives to figure out what the true story could be. The clues are multiple and the answer may be hidden in plain sight. The big reveal is intense and comes with a great plot twist. The pacing of the story and dropping of the clues is spot on.
In terms of family dynamics, the Grimlock grandparents are visiting. They are the complete opposite of the Grimlock grandchildren… to the point where it seems unbelievable they could be related. The antics, snark and drama when the two groups clash provides pages of hilarity. Baby Lily continues to be a source of both delight and mystery as her uncles continually vie for ‘favourite’ position. Her empath powers are growing too, which brings out the protective nature of Grandpa Cormack.
The author continues to build up the foundation for a series crossover with the Covenant College characters. The revenants aren’t going away and it will take the combined power of some magical ladies to bring them down. I’m looking forward to seeing that clash of characters.
Overall, another fun installment in the Death Gate series. I give Only the Devout 4/5 dark espresso shots.
