Somehow, I’m still not sure how… I managed to find some time to scroll through my kindle and make a list of all the yet unread titles on there… Oh, maybe that’s why my Christmas Tree is still up… Ah well. At least this list has been made.
I found 81 books on there! Ouch. And what’s worse? A few of them are actually anthologies. Oh my dear goodness, what was I thinking when I added all those books? Probably something along the lines of one of the following:
- Oh what a pretty cover and the premise looks good; or
- Bookbub says it’s Free today; or
- It was available for Free with one of my subscriptions; or
- It’s only 1.99 today and it’s usually much more; or
- Oh, it’s written by a blogger I follow. I should support (and I really do want to support and read, I promise!)
And so I’ve got this (thankfully, not physical) stack of books just lying on my kindle. I can’t even just pick them up and give some away! Lol. So, I’ll read a few. I don’t think I’ll get through all; and quite frankly, I doubt some of them will even still be appealing to me anymore.
As it’s the beginning of the year and I’m still full of enthusiasm and in a list-making mood, here’s my plan. Out of that list of 81, I’ve selected 36 that I definitely want to read and will read between this year and next year (fingers crossed). I’ll use them in any of the challenges I’ve signed up for; and whenever my mood fancies one of them.
For the remaining 45, I’m doing something like the Down the TBR Hole meme, where participants go to their Goodreads to-read shelf and periodically re-evaluate which ones should stay on and which can be removed. Hopefully, I’ll decide against several of them! Lol. I’d also be interested in your opinion. I’d like to know if you guys have read any of the selected books and if you’d recommend keeping or tossing.
Every first and third week of the month I’ll (try to) do a post containing 3 or 4 books from my list. I’ll include the title, blurb and my decision on if to keep or not. I’m thinking this plan gives me the flexibility to actually get the posts done.
I’m sure I’m not alone in this situation. If any of you would like to join in on this challenge. Please do! Write a post about your mountainous kindle TBR, use the hashtags #kindlebookaddiction #KindleKleanUp in your post title (for Twitter) or tag me @ninad_silva and drop your link in my comments.
Want to see my list? Click over to my Kindle Klean-up Challenge Page to see the list of books I found on my eReader. Which ones have you tried already? Any you really loved? Really hated? Let me know in the comments on that page.
My first Kindle Klean-Up post is coming soon- Feb 1, 2020! Will you join in?
I suppose at some point, I’ll also have to tackle the collection of samples on there too š±

I do something like this weekly! I go for the oldest 6 and get other bloggers to vote which ones to stay! Lol saves me having to make the decision

Good luck with challenge, Nina, though perhaps your family should just take your kindle off you!! We are still waiting for the result of the Les Mis versus Don Quixote vote….Would you like me to help you count all the votes????? Honestly, it would be no trouble….

Hahahaha. My husband would love the chance to remove my kindle. Not partial at all are you Laurence. Les Mis won the vote but… I’m kinda leaning more towards Don Quixote…..

I really should clean out my kindle soon as well… I don’t even want to know how many books are on there haha, but I know I have a lot of freebies I added years ago and just know I will never read. xD

Exactly! Lol. I still get my bookbub daily emails but Iāve stopped opening them regularly. That helped! š

I recently went through my ebooks but it could definitely use another going through. I think I might join in.

I stopped at the point right before I started blogging. I would have read everything on there before that… I think. Lol. Blogging definitely opened me up to more possibilities.

Hehehehe this is one of my big fears about ever transitioning to an e-reader – it’s SO easy for the books to stack up without the visual reminder of the TBR pile toppling! Looking forward to following along as you whittle them down š good luck!
