Review of Christmas at the Chateau by Lorraine Wilson #15BooksForChristmas #ChristmasReadingChallenge

A Christmas she’ll remember forever…

A heartwarming and gorgeous free short story to snuggle up with by the fire this Christmas

Poppy is looking forward to spending her first Christmas in France at her boyfriend, Leo’s, Château. And as the snow falls softly around the dramatic castle, Poppy can’t think of anything more magical.

There are new traditions to discover, a cosy Christmas market to explore and best of all, a promise of a secret treasure hunt from gorgeous Leo. The clues take Poppy on a magical tour of the chateau, each place holding special memories for her and Leo – their first date, their first kiss, the list goes on.

And at the end, hidden beneath the mistletoe, is one last surprise for Poppy.  A simple question that could change her life forever….

Available on Amazon right now for only $0.00.

Eeeeek. How cute. How sweet. How Christmasy. These were the thoughts running through my mind as I devoured the first few pages of A Chateau for Christmas. I absolutely adored this short story and, to be honest, it’s more short story than novella.

The main romance occurs in Book 1 in the A French Escape series and this short story is a bit of an epilogue to Leo and Poppy’s story.

Can you imagine a more romantic setting than a chateau in a little French town, at Christmastime?! I was practically cooing as I read.

I was quite pleased at how, as a new reader to the series, I was able to get a pretty decent sense of Poppy’s character. She’s a worrywart and yet she’s also so very grateful for the positive turn her life has taken. Yes, she needs to leave the mama drama behind and tell her mother to back off but rants about her mom give the reader a taste of her past.

It’s a bit harder to get a full picture of Leo but what we do get is pretty romantic and sexy too!

Poppy’s friends are quite sweet and I can’t wait to read the series to find out more about her friend, Joanna, who seems to have quite an intriguing past.

It would also be impossible to write a review of this story and not mention the adorable doggies and the donkey who star in their own right. Puppy shenanigans and a nativity like doggy birth… Seriously, the aww factor is stratospheric in this short story!

There are probably some less than perfect parts but I didn’t really care as the feel good factor was so high. Also, this short story grabbed my interest and got me to buy book one in the series, Poppy’s Place in the Sun, which I plan to read soon.

For these reasons I decided to give Christmas at the Chateau 5/5 joyeux espresso shots… or should that be espresso shots joyeaux 😉
