How about some Christmas magic and a spark of romance?

My current read is a cute Christmas romance set in North Carolina’s Heron Lake(side). I’m about one third in and enjoying the slow build spark between Luke and Jenny. It’s the first book in a series that continues with the same main protagonists… I’ll see how it goes!

Christmas at the lakeside resort by susan child review

Love and Adventures after 40

Forty-two year old Jenny Beckett is dreading the holidays. Her fiancé has just called off their Christmas wedding, and she’s been evicted from her darling chicken coop cottage. When her estranged father dies and leaves her eight rustic guest cabins on Heron Lake, Jenny seizes the chance to make a new life. She packs up her dogs, her miniature horse and her beat up Airstream trailer and moves to the lake.

Short on time and money, Jenny and her contractor, widower Luke, work feverishly to renovate the cabins in time for the festive holiday event she’s promised her very first guests. When an unexpected blizzard snows them in and jeopardizes the resort’s opening, Jenny and Luke work to save the event and, along the way, find true love… and the magic of Christmas

Fancy a little witchy cozy mystery Christmas reading? If you do, this Wicked Witches of the Midwest Christmas novella may be perfect for you… as long as you don’t mind a snarky elderly witch as your protagonist. She is hilarious though!

how aunt till stole christmas amanda m lee review

Fourteen years ago, Christmas hit Walkerville with a bang. Or, rather, a big ball of fire.
When a local group home for orphaned children goes up in smoke right before the holidays, Tillie Winchester volunteers her family to take in some kids – even though her arch nemesis Margaret Little is dead-set against it. Of course, that’s part of the appeal for Tillie so she’s considering it a win.
Three boys – all of them with a little attitude – have no idea what to expect from the Winchester household. No matter what, Tillie is sure they’re about to get more than they bargained for. In short order, they’re welcomed into the family at the same time the town is on edge due to a second fire.
Tillie is determined to prove the boys are innocent while also finding them a forever home … even if she has to take on a local judge and declare all out war to do it.
So, hang your stockings by the fire and sit back for another Christmas with the Winchesters. You’ll never be the same again.

Note: This is a 28,000-word short set in the Wicked Witches of the Midwest world. It’s set back in the past so it can be read in any order.

Up Next

I may have the bookworm reading equivalent of a sugar coma… or hangover… hmm… I may have overdosed on the sweet Christmas reads! Just to give myself a little break and get a start on the review I have to write for a blog tour at the end of the month, my next read is a classic cozy mystery from a favourite series. There’s still gonna be lots of baking happening in this one though…

theatre nights are murder libby klein

The last thing gluten-free baker Poppy McAllister needs in her life is more drama—or more murder . . .

Poppy thought her toughest challenge this winter would be sticking to her Paleo diet and filling all her orders for her gluten-free goodies, but now she has to choose between two suitors. She’s not the only one with boyfriend drama. Aunt Ginny’s long-ago high-school beau, Royce Hanson, a retired Broadway actor, has returned to Cape May, New Jersey, to star in a Senior Center staging of Mamma Mia. Leaving Aunt Ginny to wonder: What’s his motivation?

Slated to open February 13th, the problem-plagued production seems to be cursed—with stolen props, sabotage, and even a death threat. But when a cast member plunges to his death from a catwalk, it soon becomes clear a murderer is waiting in the wings. Now Polly, Aunt Ginny, and a supporting cast must take center stage to catch the killer—before it’s curtains for someone else . . .

Includes Seven Recipes from Poppy’s Kitchen!

These are the stories filling my days at the moment.

What about you? Have you read any of these? What are you enjoying today?
