Johan Rogers is a sharpshooting family lawyer who is close to burn out. This is affecting his ability with the Magiks and his once reliable skill as a medium. On a whim, he’s come south to Edi’s shop, Crystal Sands, for a break over the summer solstice. He’s looking for fun, nothing serious, and definitely no commitment.
That’s how things start with the stunning Nova. But then a side of him he’s repressed to be a lawyer begins to emerge. Can he get a handle on his emotions, or will Nova help him to realize his full potential with the Magiks?
Nova McGinnis is struggling to find her unique skill with the Magiks. She’s been repressed too long, and despite Edi’s help, her ability is erratic at best. It’s been nearly a month of trying and she’s made minimal progress. Frustrated, she sees Johan as the perfect distraction.
It was meant to be just a summer love affair, but things are developing into something more lasting. Will a hot love affair prevent Nova from discovering her Magik ability, or help her?

Solstice Sizzle certainly did sizzle when Nova and Johan met. This is Book 2 in this steamy witchy romance series set in Australia. The setting, with the gorgeous beach views and walks along the seaside, certainly appealed to the beach bunny in me.
It’s attraction at first sight for these two and readers are immediately pulled into their drama and passions. As this is a novella not all elements of the story are fully developed. Nova’s backstory includes conflict with her mother, which is a major reason why she never connected with her magic. That conflict could have benefited from a bit more depth to help add more to Nova’s current predicament and show her growth. Also, Johan’s issues with connecting more to his power are mentioned but not enough detail is provided.
Those issues aside, there are quite a few parts I really enjoyed.
The Parts I liked:
• The setting
• Edith (Edi) who helps guide the protagonists.
• The little bits of the witchy world we get to see.
• The chemistry between the main characters as shown through the dialogue.
Overall, this is a fun, quick read and I give it 3.5/5 espresso shots.

Sounds cute! It may not have been deep, but it sounds like a good beach read! (if I EVER make it to a beach! 😅) Was the 1st book a novella as well?

Actually yeah… it would work as a quick afternoon by the pool read. Lol. I’m not sure if the first one was a novella as well but I imagine so. The witch/ magic system seemed quite interesting and I wish that was covered more.

Thanks for letting me know! I love a good novella to break up too many longer reads! (although, mine always seem to wind up Pride & Prejudice variations..) 😅
