Read and TBR for May and June

Oh my goodness gracious, it’s time for another Read and TBR. I’m a bit concerned that I’m marking the passage of the year by these blog posts! Haha.

The rains have arrived, making my garden look a bit green again and highlighting the fact that I’ve had zero control over the shrubbery that has popped up there. At least the very few flowers have appealed to a lovely humming bird who comes to visit most days! Sweet bird, it probably just feels sorry for my measly non-attmepts at gardening.

I may not have a green thumb but I certainly am no slouch in the reading department. I did slow down the pace a little and only completed 9 books in May compared to the 12 and 13 of the months prior. I even got a fair bit of them reviewed and posted on the blog. I read three through kindle unlimited, which makes me happy to know my subscription is being well-used. I didn’t knock any off my physical TBR though.

Here’s what I read in May.

Again, I was heavy on the cozy mysteries with 6 of them: Mistaken Identity Crisis, Murder She Uncovered, Slay in Character, A Breath of Witchy Air, Sconed to Death and Six Easy Pockets. In the romance genre, I read one I saw highlighted over at Sophie’s blog, Cruel Sanctuary, and another one that was part of a blog tour, What Took You So Long. And I even pushed a little and got in a gritty mystery suspense by Didi Oviatt, Justice For Belle.

For June I’ve only promised to review for two blog tours, I have a buddy read scheduled, I’m definitely reading Jessica’s book this month and then I’ll fill in the rest of the month catching up on series I already follow. Oh, and in between I’ll continue reading Corelli’s Mandolin. I’ve passed chapter one! and I’m currently at about 30%. In between reading I have a birthday to celebrate and some beach time to spend with my family. I’m looking forward to that as we’ll be spending a few days. I don’t often get to spend evenings on the beach, and that really is my favourite time. Here’s my list:

Every Dog Has His Day by Chole Grace

Solstice Sizzle by Lilliana Rose

Bear With Me by Jessica Redland

Eva Luna by Isabel Allende

Witch, Interrupted by Amanda M. Lee

And if the mood strikes I’ll read this one too…

What about you? Any reading plans for the month? Any fun plans for the month?

  1. I would expect you to be heavy on the cozy mysteries, afterall, you are the cozypages. 😃 I keep saying I am going to read Jessica Redland books and then don’t get to them. I really need to make the effort. Looks like a good lineup so far in June. Happy Reading Nina. 😃📚

    1. Aw, bless you. Hope you manage to squeeze them in at some point in amongst what I’m sure is a huge TBR pile. I know how that feels. I only manage about a book or two a month and somehow manage to acquire about six! So many books, so little time! 🙂

  2. Cute covers!! I’m not quite sure if I told you, but I really want to read scones to death… that cover looks irresistible!
    Happy reading, Nina!

  3. Okay, the presure is on with Witch Interupted… I’m depending on your review to decide if I want to read it or not… Looks good, but my list is atrocious, so it’ll only make the cut if you love it lol….. awww the presure 😉

    1. Hahahaha. Have you been following the series? I’m finding the quality of the mystery has declined a bit. But the characters keep pulling me back to the series. Lol. I’m hoping the mystery is stronger in Interrupted.

      1. I’ve been keeping an eye on them, but am yet to read any. It’s been a while since I read a good witch tale, and I’m due…. BUT cant make up my mind lol 🤦‍♀️😅

Hopefully the quality picks back up!! That kinda sucks lol

  4. I say nine books read in a month is still very good. I had to return a book since there was a hold on it. So I moved onto a short memoir of how The Pioneer Woman met her husband. I thought it would be fun and interesting read. No big reading plans this summer as I’d like to dust off my sewing machine and get it humming again.
