Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts (9)

Welcome to Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts, an original weekly meme hosted at (un)Conventional Bookviewswhere readers share food or drink quotes from their current reads.

Over on her site, Lexxie says: So many of the books we read have food or drinks in them, some I’d love to try, and others I’d never ever want to taste… and I thought it could be interesting and fun to share some food and / or drink quotes…  If you want to participate, you can grab my logo if you’d like, or you can make your own, but please link back to me in your own post.

The idea of this feature is to:

  • Share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read,
  • as well as if it’s something you think you’d like or not.
  • Share the title of the book it happened in,
  • as well as the character who ate or drank the special little something.
  • Each week there is a link-up for the current post so that it’s easy to find other participants as well.
  • Add your post to the linky.

My quote today comes from Restaurant Weeks Are Murder by Libby Klein. You can read my review of it here.

I grabbed a lime and a pack of lady fingers and went back to my station. I was making miniature passion fruit-chile cheesecakes. The cream cheese would dull the heat from the peppers and let the citrus flavor come through. Thank you, Nadia G. The surface area-to-mass ratio would enable them to bake very quickly. Thank you, Alton Brown. I was able to crush the lady fingers with my hands because I was full of unhindered rage. Thank you, Gigi.

Poppy made so many great deserts during the restaurant week competition, my sweet tooth was practically aching while I read this book. One of the dishes she made that really caught my attention was this passion fruit-chile cheesecake. Poppy never quite gets to taste her final creation, but you’ll have to read the story to find out why!

Thankfully, the author includes a recipe for this one at the end of the story, so maybe I’ll just have to try it myself after all.

What about you? What are you looking forward to eating today?

  1. Nooooo…. You can’t do this to me I am so happy I have a migraine right now. Hope my longing for something sweet goes away… And I am reading horror where in that dusty dank room there are 10 who are gonna die one by one… Whew… And yayy

  2. I don’t quite have something to look forward to in terms of eating but our house is well-stocked after yesterday’s Costco run. I’m intrigued about why she was crushing lady fingers in rage.

  3. I love this meme, I used to participate but stopped for some reason. I agree, a well-stocked kitchen can be deadly. I can’t have so many things in my house, because I know I will eat them. This recipe sounds interesting, I will have to check it out when I read this book. Great post Nina.
