Kathy from Books & Munches hosts reading challenges each month (and provided that cute featured image). The last one I did was in February, I believe. I saw this coming month’s challenge and knew I had to give it a try too. November’s challenge is called Remember November. The challenge is pretty straightforward: all you have to do is remember those goals you set yourself at the start of the year and focus on reaching them!
Kathy’s Rules:
◊ Post a blog post saying you’ll be joining me trying to reach all those goals and challenges we committed ourselves to throughout the year.
◊ Share your list of challenges, goals and whatnot and state what you’re going to try and reach/tick off during this month’s read-a-thon.
◊ If you’re sharing your updates on social media, use #RemNovember so we can follow up on each other!
The Challenges I entered:
- Goodreads Goal – 70 books
- Beat the Backlist – Read 12 books from 2017 or earlier from my TBR at the beginning of 2018
- Classics Challenge – Read 3 classics
Challenge Status:
- Goodreads Goal: COMPLETE!!! Currently at 80/70 and I haven’t even started my Christmas reads yet. Very excited for those.
- Beat the Backlist: I’m not convinced I’ll actually be able to finish this one. Can over achieving on one challenge average out against failing on another? I don’t see why not 😉 I’ve only read 5 out of the 12 books I promised myself to read. Calling Major Tom is the next one I hope to finish, but that still only brings me to 50%. Ouch.
- Classics Challenge: Really there’s no good reason why I haven’t finished this one as yet… or at least be further along. So far I’ve completed Handmaid’s Tale. I read the first chapter of Memoirs of a Geisha in October and will finish it in November. I’m also hoping to at least start Corelli’s Mandolin and have all three classics finished by December 31.
Those are my challenge goals for the rest of the year. Where are you with yours???
You are such a fast reader 😇😌

LOL. Not fast enough I think. 😉

Actually I do not keep a count of how many books I read! Should be interesting to. Btw I do not know a single title from the list on your post
Just goes to show that there are so many tomes to conquer? xx

Far too many for our relatively short days on this Earth.

Maybe you could pick the shortest books on your TBR to tackle?? Great goals though! I’m afraid to think of the ones I set! Only my goodreads goal is going well!

That’s an idea! Hmm… I’ll have to go investigate those page counts now 😉

This is such a great idea to get you motivated! I wish I had joined!! I really need to get on my back list… There’s probably about 70 titles on it… *shudder*

Oh I don’t even want to know how many are actually on my backlist! Lol. I just picked those 12.

Ha ha! Well, next week I think I’m going to do a 24 hr challenge and see what I can muscle through… I’M EXCITED!! 😄😄

WooHoo!!! One day I’ll be able to do one of those 😂😂

Ha ha!! I’ll probably fail miserably… Lately, when I try to read I start nodding off at all hrs of the day! I can only imagine what trying to go for 24hrs will be like! 😂

Lol. Switch to caffeine and no alcohol for the day???

Ummmm…. Who would I be with no alcohol for 24 hrs?? 😂😂 I actually can’t do much caffeine (or alcohol for that matter) as I have an ulcer. So, caffeine in small doses so I’m not vomiting blood. 😅😂

Oh. No!!!!!!! How long have you had it?

Oh, you know… About 12 years! 😅 I was supposed to change my diet to help it heal…. I have not done that… And it was caused by my job, which was really high stress… (at least I got rid of THAT!).. I just replaced it with OTHER high stress things! 😂😂

Oh no. Lol. 12 years… wow. Nicole!!! You’re so young though. So that’s drinking in moderation then? 😉😉😂

I had set a 50 book reading goal, and I’m at about 42, so with a little luck I’ll be good to go!

Oh yes. That sounds doable by Dec 31. All the best!

Congrats on meeting your challenge goal, Nina! I’m good with that one, too, and I think it may be the only one I set?! 😂 Good luck with the others! Blacklists are hard with so many ARCs!

I hope so too! Guess you think the backlist one is pretty much off the table too, huh 😂😂
I’m a few chapters into Memoirs… it’s so ambient… oh. I’m liking it!

I love your challenges. They’re actually do-able! 😛 I usually content myself with the Goodreads challenge, but I think I’m going to have to try my own version of that Backlist Challenge for 2019. Too many of my “own” books have been put on hold for “arcs” and what not during 2018! 😀 Good luck completing your challenges, Nina!

Tell me about it! I may have to be even more selective next years about ARCs to get through some of the great stuff I want to.

I’d definitely say smashing one challenge can make up for failing at another one – especially since.. we simply tend to get distracted by all the books we have yet to read. 😉
Maybe you’ll succeed at catching up though. Who knows!
Good luck to you and thanks for participating! 😀 ❤
