Looking Ahead: Oct 2018

Looking Ahead

I’m taking part in a monthly meme created by Tina over at Reading Between the Pages.   On the first day of each month she will post a Looking Ahead – This Month’s TBR List.  If you have a TBR list for the month feel free to drop your link in the comments. Tina thinks this will be a fun way to meet new bloggers, branch out to different genres, and find some new must-read books. I agree!  Go check out her website and join in the fun.

And just like that, another month down.  Welcome to October, the pumpkin month.  Having just dealt with a five year old and his tooth extraction, the last thing I want to see is candy in my house. Will have to figure out a way to cut down on the hauls this year.  Maybe I can convince the boys to donate most of it to the “candy charity“?!  Hmm…

Anyway, on to the reading.  I kept my September reading list even lighter than August’s but was still able to get through 6 in total.  I might have been able to squeeze in one more, as several of these books were quite short, but Poetic Murderer ate up a pretty big chunk of reading time.

Here’s what I got through:

One Very Odd Teacher and A Very Merry Murder are for blog tours this month so I’ll post those reviews soon, as well as reviews for Dreaming About Daran and Entrapped.  I’ve already posted the reviews for The Poetic Murder and Death by Didgeridoo.

I also completed my Goodreads Challenge in September!!! I’m thinking about updating the challenge, especially as I have a couple of books that I have to review before the end of the year plus all the other ones I want to read!  I’ll see if I can figure that out, plus I’d like to get the Challenge to sync with my website properly.

So what will October’s reading bring me?  I’m still not being too ambitious with my reading list and will start off with just about 4 that I absolutely want to complete.  The first three are author requests I scheduled months ago so I really hope to get through those.   Then I’ve put in Memoirs of a Geisha as I set myself a 3 book classics reading challenge this year and I’ve only completed 1 so far.

Here’s what I want to get through this month:

Magic Run Amok by Sharon Pape

Leah and Rhea: Spell by Melissa Hines Helms

Making it Work by Kathleen Glassburn

Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden

If I get through those four during the month, I’ll catch up on two of my favourite cozy mystery series:

Reel of Fortune by Jana DeLeon

On Deadline and Under Fire by Amanda M. Lee

And if I’m feeling really ambitious… and brave… in an attempt to embrace some seasonal reading, my blog buddy Nicole has recommended a book of short horror stories (for this non-horror reading bookworm).  Ummm… Nicole, just remind me of the title of that book again please 😂

So, October here we come.  Happy reading bookworms!
