Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Welcome to Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts, an original weekly meme hosted at (un)Conventional Bookviews where readers share food or drink quotes from their current reads.

Over on her site, Lexxie says: So many of the books we read have food or drinks in them, some I’d love to try, and others I’d never ever want to taste… and I thought it could be interesting and fun to share some food and / or drink quotes…  If you want to participate, you can grab my logo if you’d like, or you can make your own, but please link back to me in your own post.

The idea of this feature is to:

  • Share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read,
  • as well as if it’s something you think you’d like or not.
  • Share the title of the book it happened in,
  • as well as the character who ate or drank the special little something.
  • Each week there is a link-up for the current post so that it’s easy to find other participants as well.
  • Add your post to the linky.

My quote today comes from Death by Didgeridoo by Barbara Venkataraman.

“It was way past lunch time and I was starving, so the first thing I did when I got in the house was make a sandwich–a peanut butter, banana, and honey sandwich, to be exact. Now, I know what you’re thinking, you’re thinking that sounds gross, but you shouldn’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it. I mean, it’s not like I suggested you eat a sardine sandwich. Yes, somebody actually eats those. If you Google sardine sandwich, recipes pop up, I kid you not.”

I read Death by Didgeridoo last month and found it to be a very short, fun story.  You can check out the review here.  I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series too.

Admittedly this is not the usual mouth watering, hunger inducing quote that I would use on Thirsty Thursday, but it really made me laugh and I immediately thought about it for this meme!  And I would definitely go with the peanut butter, banana and honey sandwich over sardines!  Yuck!  That was one tinned food to steer clear of in my house. Lol

What are you eating today?  I hope it’s something delicious!

  1. I am having tea and biscuits… Well it s tea time here. I am so tempted to comment on the cover… The S word but it will not go with the meme…. I saw crazynookbks Laurie having tea and biscuits so I was tempted

  2. I have eaten peanut butter and banana, but never added honey, I will have to try adding that. I am definitely going to join in on this meme. Maybe tonight if I finish my reviews of the children’s books I read yesterday to my grandchildren.

  3. Do you put that on bread?! I think Elvis Presley used to like PB and banana sandwiches. 🤔
What a cute meme. I love it!! I wish I had the time to participate in all of them. 😔 So many of my books include delicious food. I’m still trying to figure out how to copy a post from a tag so I can do it. 🤦🏽‍♀️

      1. I tried copy/paste, but it didn’t copy the text. It copied the link or something. I’m sure I can figure it out, just haven’t put enough time into it. But it would make doing tags and memes a lot easier.

I know how to copy one of my own posts, I just can’t seem to figure out how to copy then edit someone else’s.

  4. Oh, forgot to answer your question, Nina. I’m not sure what I’m eating today, but from the looks of my hips lately it needs to be something low-fat.😂
The author offered me a copy of this book a long time ago but I declined because I was a bit overloaded at the time. Little did I know then that it would be a perpetual state for me. 🤷🏽‍♀️
