Today I’m participating in First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros, hosted by Vicki at I’d Rather Be At The Beach, in which bloggers share a bit about a book they’re reading or planning to read soon.  Feel free to join in by posting your own book intro, linking back to Vicki’s page and joining the FCFPT linky.

Freaky Days by Amanda M Lee is the first in the Mystic Caravan Mystery series.  I’ve already read books 1 -3 and enjoyed them quite a lot.  Think of it as cozy mystery meets fantasy… I think that’s the best description for it.  Hopefully I’ll find some time soon to catch up on the series.  Book 6 comes out soon.

Chapter 1

“Stop molesting that tiger.”

I rolled my eyes and glanced at the large tent’s floor, fixing my best friend, Luke Bishop, with a dark look. “I am not molesting the tiger. Get your head out of the gutter.”

“You’re stroking him like he’s going to make you purr,” Luke countered, hopping onto the brightly lit stage where I stood and swaggering to my side.

That’s what he does best: swagger. He knows it, and I know it, too.

“You can’t slip your toe into the animal dating pool and think no one is going to notice, Poet. It’s the kind of scandal this place was made for.”

I pursed my lips, the desire to laugh warring with the urge to yank huge hunks of Luke’s blond hair out of his head. He thinks he’s cute, so he says the most outrageous things and then sits back to enjoy how people react. Most of the time he’s pleased, because he’s too handsome –and ridiculously charming when he wants to be –for people to stay angry with him for long. I’m not most people, though. My name is Poet Parker and I’m a fortune teller.

The show must go on … even when monsters are afoot.
Poet Parker is Romani by birth and a fortune teller by choice. As a member of Mystic Caravan Circus, she’s spent the past ten years using her psychic talents to tell people what their future holds by day and hunting paranormal monsters by night.
You see, Mystic Caravan is more than just a circus – it’s also a force of good in a world that needs help fighting evil.
Poet is set in her ways – and happy with her life – until Kade Denton shows up and upends the entire operation. He’s loud and proud – and Poet doesn’t like anyone telling her what to do.
As the new head of security, Kade thinks his only job is going to be tackling drunken revellers when they get out of hand. He’s in for a rude – and bloody – awakening.
When monsters strike and the truth comes out, Kade finds he has to learn on the job with Poet as his somewhat reluctant instructor.
Sparks are flying – both real and figurative – and when a truly terrible beast targets the circus for extermination it’s all magical hands on deck for the final showdown.
Some things are born evil, but the people in Mystic Caravan were born to fight it.

Prepare to be amazed.
