I’m taking part in a monthly meme created by Tina over at Reading Between the Pages. On the first day of each month she will post a Looking Ahead – This Month’s TBR List. If you have a TBR list for the month feel free to drop your link in the comments. Tina thinks this will be a fun way to meet new bloggers, branch out to different genres, and find some new must-read books. I agree! Go check out her website and join in the fun.
I was just saying how happy I was to be on vacation and now it’s time to head back to work. From Tuesday I’ll be back in the office doing (my least favourite) administrative duties to get ready for the new semester. At least by the middle of the month we’ll start meeting with some of the new students. They’re always a nice excited bunch!
So how did my July reading shape up? Not as bountiful as I had anticipated. I had a couple of reads which I didn’t really enjoy. Struggling through those books ate up my extra reading time. I was able to start My Lady Jane but I won’t be finishing it until some time during the up coming week.
Here’s what I did get through:
Reviews: Daniel Daniels and the World’s Worst Zoo, A Merciful Truth, Baker’s Dozen, Getting Over Gary, The Colour of Magic.
Other reviews soon to come.
For August I’m keeping the starting list light as I’ll be putting in more hours at work. These six books are all reviews for blog tours or author requests. I’m particularly looking forward to Midnight Snacks Are Murder. It’s the 2nd in the Poppy McAllister series. I quite enjoyed Book 1.
Here is this month’s list:
Midnight Snacks are Murder by Libby Klein
Kingdom of Ash and Soot by C. S. Johnson
The Last Plantagenet by Jennifer C. Wilson
Sherlock Holmes and the case of the Disappearing Diva by Gemma Haliday
His Highland Lass by Celeste Barclay
Cold Fire by James Hartley
I have read MIDNIGHT SNACKS ARE MURDER and thoroughly enjoyed it. Enjoy your reading this month.

So fantasy? Reverse mermaid? Fish from the top and human at the bottom? 😳😳

Not quite! Lol. The guy is the mermaid and the girl is the human princess. Definitely fantasy!

Thank you.
Once the students start popping in it will be great. It’s the staff meetings that annoy me 😊

Wonderful looking reads ahead of and behind you for July, Nina! I wanted to do a post like this, but I am not organized enough and switch around my reads. It’s my goal, though! I hope you have an easy transition back to work. This summer is going by way too quickly! ♥️

Thanks Jennifer!! The lists help me, especially to keep track of what I have to read for blog tours. I usually leave space for spur of the moment reads though 😊

You are absolutely right, and I guess I have to have SOME idea of what I’m about to read. Nina, maybe it’s fear of the commitment (of posting them on the blog). 😂 (I fully realize I have the right to change my mind). I’m being silly!

Oh I have Scared to Death on my readlist but still haven’t started the series yet. She’ll be at book n° 8 probably before I’ll start and I’ll never be able to catch up :-);-). I hope it’s a good series? Happy reading lovely!

I clicked on the comment section to write something when I came across the discussion between you and Shalini. Oh god, that was so hilarious 😂 reverse mermaid – top fish, bottom human 😱😂😂 and I was laughing so hard that I forgot what I had to write here. 😂 You guys wrote the plot for a cozy-hilarious-fishtery 😉

Hahahaha. Well Shalini is certainly creative! And over to ‘reinterpret’ my meanings 😄😄
