Earlier this year I read a fun, sweet tale by Sun called Reclusive Millionaire, Reluctant Wife, so I was very happy to be a part of the the blog tour for another of Sun’s books.
A tempestuous fling…a marriage…a betrayal?
When Michalis Leonadis’ bride jumps ship at the first sign of rough waters, he’s annoyed. When she costs him a marriage and a billion-dollar deal, he’s furious; but when he discovers she ditched him whilst harboring a secret…he’s out for revenge.
Ex-model, Julia Armstrong gave up everything for Michalis but when she catches him with another woman, crushed, she jets out of his life. The proud Greek blasts back into her world seeking retribution—in exchange for a divorce, he demands she relinquish the one thing she cannot. Her daughter. Only one other bargaining chip remains…Julia herself.

Please take me to Greece. I want to see the sparkle of Athens and I want to swim in the clear waters of the Aegean Sea. Sun Chara set this romance story in Mykonos and it’s hard not to imagine falling in love or falling in love again, as is the case here, against such a stunning backdrop. I think I fell in love with Mykonos while reading this story.
It is a story of reconnecting with a past love. It’s a story about swallowing pride. It’s a story about forgiving. Julia is a former model who exchanged the fast paced life for domestic bliss with the love of her life. Perhaps she’s just a bit too quick to make harsh and incorrect assumptions. There’s not much in her past to make her believe the best of people. Her inability to trust anyone, even the man she supposedly loves, is something she must overcome to find happiness, or at least peace.
While we get a fair picture of Julia, Michalis is less well-developed. He comes across as cold, arrogant and entirely too fixated on revenge. His alpha male characterisation is intense. It would have been lovely to see more depth and development in his character.
The pacing of this book is good. The story moves forward and the flashbacks used are to the point and serve to push the overall story forward.
I do wish there were more scenes or conversations involving their daughter. Michalis claims to need his daughter in his life so much that he even blackmails and threatens Julia. Yet, he very promptly puts a nanny in place and whisks a reluctant Julia off on a getaway.
Overall, the story is a bit predictable but still a fun and romantic read.

You wrote a beautiful review of what sounds like a fun romance, Nina. This isn’t my typical genre, but I loved hearing about the Mykonos setting in your review. I have been, and it’s unforgettable in its beauty.

I hope you are able to go one day, Nina! You will love it, I am certain! We went to Athens, too, but Mykonos was much more my style. Not as crowded, that blue water/white houses. Slower paced. A great place to read!
