Looking Ahead- July 2018

I’m taking part in a monthly meme created by Tina over at Reading Between the Pages.   On the first day of each month she will post a Looking Ahead – This Month’s TBR List.  If you have a TBR list for the month feel free to link in. You are more than welcome to use her image or one of your own. Tina thinks this will be a fun way to meet new bloggers, branch out to different genres, and find some new must-read books. I agree!  Go check out her website and join in the fun.

And another month in 2018 is done and dusted.  Folks in the northern hemisphere are bemoaning the longer, hotter days and those of us who teach, are enjoying a well-deserved break from text books, exercise books and schedules!

With less hours to put in at work, I’ve managed to get in another 11 books in June plus some reviews!  Two of the books were novellas but one was the 500+ pages of Children of Blood and Bone and another was a ridiculously long (450+ pages) Cozy Mystery.

I also read and reviewed Deadly Eclair for a blog tour.

Reviews:  Unforgivables, Walking on Her Grave, One Summer Weekend, Airships, Crypts & Chocolate Chips.

Reviews soon to come for the others.  But I am especially looking forward to the review of Children of Blood and Bone by Toni Adeyemi.  I did a buddy read with Sam from Modern Witch’s Bookshelf.  We will be sorting out and posting our reviews soon!  I promise.

For July, I’ve created a longer starting list than usual but should be able to get through it just fine.  I have a couple author requests, a blog tour, a readathon and My Lady Jane.  I’ve seen nothing but good reviews for that one and I managed to grab it for $1.99 a couple weeks ago when it was on sale (or mistake… ☺️)  I also have to finish up a beta read that I started at the end of June.  Given how many I’ve gotten through in the last two months, I’m hoping I still have space to add in ‘whatever I feel like’ books during the month.

Here’s what’s on my list this month:

Souffle of Suspicion by Daryl Wood Gerber

The Color of Magic by Terri Pratchet

Getting Over Gary by Jessica Redland

Scared to Death by Rachel Amphlett

Daniel Daniels and the World’s Worst Zoo by Robbie Yates

My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows

The Shoebox by Tracy Ploch

Baker’s Dozen by Amey Zeigler

Right, that’s about it for now.  What about you? What are you looking forward to reading this month?

  1. I loved My Lady Jane! Hilarious, exciting, and awesome alternate history worldbuilding. The second book, on the other hand…My Plain Jane is so far a let down. I’m only three chapters in and it already feels like they’re trying too hard to be as funny as in the first book, but the execution is falling flat. Such a pity.
