Taken from his introduction:
First Impression Friday will be a meme where you talk about a book that you JUST STARTED! Maybe you’re only a chapter or two in, maybe a little farther. Based on this sampling of your current read, give a few impressions and predict what you’ll think by the end. Did you think you’d love and ended up hating it? Or did you think you’d hate it and wound up loving it? Or were you exactly right? I think what will really make this meme a lot of fun, is linking back to it from your review to say, “Look at how wrong I was!” OR “See? I knew it all along!”
Earlier this week I started Children of Blood and Bone by Toni Adeyemi. I’ll be reading it as part of a buddy read with Sam over at Modern Witch’s Bookshelf, who also gifted me with a copy through her giveaway earlier this year. Thanks again Sam!
Believe it or not, this is actually the first physical book (other than a textbook) I’ve read in a while. I’ve become so used to my Kindle and phone for reading, out of necessity. It’s lovely to be holding a ‘real’ book again. Lol.
I’m only in Chapter 3, as I’m reading COBAB while also getting through a couple other books and projects. I was really intimated to start as it’s such a hyped up book and the huge world created, replete with map and clan descriptions, is a bit daunting. But I’m in now!
- It’s actually very approachable.
- The writing from page one grabbed my attention.
- I like the ‘fire’ of Zélie’s spirit so far.
- I’m enjoying reading and checking new places/ people against the map and clan descriptions.
I’ve got a long way to go still in this book but I like the beginning a lot. I’m leaning towards a minimum of 4 stars for this read.
Have a great weekend!
