THE BOOK COURTSHIP TAG

Thanks very much to The Orangutang Librarian for this assignment tag.  It’s only about a month (or  little more) late, which apparently is still eons earlier than when the Orangutang got around to answering her tag! 😉

PHASE 1: INITIAL ATTRACTION – A BOOK YOU BOUGHT BECAUSE OF THE COVER?

Screen Shot 2017-12-14 at 10.41.24 PM

Charlee and the Chocolate Shop. I’ve featured this book cover on my blog so many times. But it’s just so pretty!

PHASE 2: FIRST IMPRESSIONS – A BOOK YOU GOT BECAUSE OF ITS SUMMARY?

Screen Shot 2018-03-10 at 9.23.58 PM

The Baker’s Daughter by Sarah McCoy.  This book showed up in a Bookbub email and I really enjoyed what I read.  I also bought the audio to go along with it.  You can read the synopsis here.

PHASE 3: SWEET TALK – A BOOK WITH GREAT WRITING?

Screen Shot 2017-12-17 at 9.51.04 PM

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.  The writing was as mesmerising as the images she created.

PHASE 4: FIRST DATE – THE FIRST BOOK OF A SERIES THAT MADE YOU WANT TO PICK UP THE REST OF THE SERIES?

Screen Shot 2018-01-13 at 10.53.34 PM

Seashell’s Spells and Caramels by Erin Johnson.  I think this became one of my favourite Cozy series after the first book.  I love the magical world created by the author.

PHASE 5: LATE NIGHT PHONE CALLS – A BOOK THAT KEPT YOU UP ALL NIGHT?

Screen Shot 2017-11-27 at 11.06.36 PM

Once I’m hooked into a book, I’ll easily stay awake late to get through it.  One of the more recent reads to cause this was 180 Seconds by Jessica Redland.

PHASE 6: ALWAYS ON MY MIND – A BOOK YOU COULD NOT STOP THINKING ABOUT?

Screen Shot 2018-01-24 at 9.12.40 PM

The War of Don Emmanuel’s Nether Parts by Louis de Bernieres is a book that brilliantly covers many troubling aspects of Latin America’s History and Politics while telling a sometimes funny but always compelling story.

PHASE 7: GETTING PHYSICAL – A BOOK THAT YOU LOVE THE WAY IT FEELS?

Any of my hard cover dictionaries.  I love those thick hardback tomes and the little whisper of breeze that tickles my nose as I flip through the pages.  Jeez, such a nerd I am. 🤓🙃

PHASE 8: MEETING THE PARENTS – A BOOK YOU WOULD RECOMMEND TO YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS?

Screen Shot 2017-12-07 at 11.29.03 PM

It would have to depend on the person.  That said, I think a nice, easy, well-written Cozy Mystery to introduce someone to the genre may be the Dewberry Farm series by Karen Mac Inerney.  The first book being Killer Jam.

PHASE 9: THINKING ABOUT THE FUTURE – A BOOK OR SERIES YOU KNOW YOU WILL RE-READ MANY TIMES IN THE FUTURE?

The Night Circus 😀

PHASE 10: SHARE THE LOVE – WHO DO YOU TAG?

Muna Is Reading

Adventures Through Wonderland

Sarah June Blog

Books Beyond The Story

  1. I’ve requested Killer Jam; my library has a large print copy, LOL. I love that cover of the chocolate shop book. It’s so festive and inviting.
Thank you for your love on my Harry socks. I hope to finish them soon; sometimes I drag my heels when it comes to finishing up the last of a WIP.

  2. I keep seeing the Night Circus everywhere lately!! And apparently it was hyped up in the past? Where was I when all that hype went down? I am so so late to the party 😦
I wanna read it so baaad :((

  3. I am a person who often chooses books based on the cover and I love some of the ones you have mentioned here. I started The Night Circus once many years ago, I really need to get back and read it all the way, I have only ever heard good things about it.

    1. The cover makes such an impact when you’re scrolling!
I hope you do get a chance to revisit Night Circus. I know some ppl don’t care for it but I haven’t seen any reviews outright disliking it 🙂
