One Lovely Blog Award

Thank you very much to J.W. at Storey of Stories for this nomination for the “One Lovely Blog Award”.  J.W.’s posts are always enlightening and usually end with a “fun fact about the post”.  Check out his blog, if you haven’t already.

  1. I have three sons.  My husband and I both, separately, always pictured having two daughters… Premonition is clearly not a gift I possess.

2. My day job is teaching Latin American History and Politics.  I love it and enjoy interacting with my students but the reading material is heavy and exhausting at times.  This is what my work bookshelf looks like… well part of it anyway:

3.  Because of the above, my brain needs to relax and play when I pick up a book in my own time.  So this is what my kindle bookshelf looks like:

4. I love coffee.  I love it so much that when my father retired, we decided to open a little coffee shop.  It’s an espresso bar really, with seating for just about 6 or 7 customers.  It was meant to be for a take away crowd but now we’ve got several distinct groups of patrons who occupy their favourite seats at various times of day.

5.  I said ‘we’, but I really meant ‘he’.  With a job, three children and blogging commitments (😉 ), when do I ever have time to work the coffee shop?! I do have time to look through my favourite coffee books, however.

6.  Since I started blogging in October last year I seem to given up my TV time.  I now need to catch up on/ re-watch some favourite series:

7. By the time this post goes live I’ll be on a little vacation that will be anything but relaxing but should definitely be fun.

Now it’s time to share the pain… I mean… fun… 🙂

I nominate

Vanessa @The Bookish Deer who, in addition to her very aesthetically pleasing blog, also has a youtube channel to feature her fantastic books in Portuguese, for those of you who want to learn a new language.

The fabulous Orangutang Librarian.  Her blog and content is absolutely amazing… just go follow, now.

Debbie @Always Booking has a weekly New Friend Friday Meme where she features her blog buddies.

Merv @MervReads has just started a Misplaced Monday Meme to showcase books you read before your blogging days started.

Kathy @Books and Munches has been hosting some pretty interesting monthly challenges.  Go check out Fantastic February.

Tina @Reading Between The Pages also recently started a monthly TBR meme called Looking Ahead.

Lauren @Lauren’s Page Turners hosts the weekly Goodreads Monday Meme, where you’re encouraged to showcase a book from the mountainous TBR pile.

Freda @Freda’s Voice is the host of the weekly Friday 56 Meme, from which I have discovered several good books.

Jay @This is My Truth Now is just plain awesome and talented. If you’re not following him yet, you’re missing out.

Disclaimer:  I know some of you have already received this award and some others may just have too much going on to tackle it.  I’m tagging you to remind you your posts are appreciated.

Happy Saturday!

  1. I really enjoyed this post… your voice is authentic and speaks beautifully about your life. I want to visit this coffee shop! I hope vacation is awesome. There are a few books we share in common on the TBR. I’m gonna have to add a few more to your shelf soon. 🙂 Thanks for the tag.

    1. Thank you Jay. Your positive words are very appreciated 😊
Lol. Well if you ever get to visit, I’m sure my dad will talk your ears off! Vacation is going well but incredibly busy. Can barely find a moment to think. 😄
You think my shelf looks like it needs more added??!! Go ahead…

  2. The boys are so cute! I just learned a lot about you I didn’t know. How cool that you teach Latin American History and your family has a coffee shop! That sounds so interesting. ❤ I love these award/tags because they help is get to know one another. Thanks so much for sharing all of these facts about you.

  3. Oh, thank you so much for the tag and for the appreciation towards my posts! 🙂

Love the facts about you. Had to giggle on the children-part. My boyfriend and I really do NOT want to have twins since we only want one kid so.. here’s me keeping my fingers crossed we do possess a bit of premonition. Twins run in the family a lot so.. Yup..

Really like the fact you have a coffee shop. I keep wanting to find myself a coffee shop where I can become a regular myself but I always end up on my own couch, really.. Oops.

    1. You’re very welcome 😁

Well…. I’ve got this friend where twins run in her family. She and her two sisters though are NOT twins. Each sister has a set of twins now. One sister ended up with two sets!!! 😳😳😱 not to worry you or anything 🤪

Hey…. most days I just take the fresh ground beans from the shop and brew at home. So I totally get you!

      1. It always skips a generation.. Trust me, I think about it often enough as it is, haha! Guess time will tell on that one. 😛

Still sounds amazing! I’m already looking forward to coming home, making myself a cup and start reading the night away. 😀

    1. Yes!!!! I miss the old cast too. The new one is better than I had expected but not at all the same thing. Tony and Ziva were the best. Lol
It’s fun but so tiring. I always forget how much Family I have in Toronto until I get there and have never ending stops to make. Lol. But it’s great seeing all my cousins.

      1. Yup Tony, Ziva and McGee were an awesome trifecta. I guess you just haven’t gotten into the new people:(
Oh now I understand your statement- visiting family isn’t really a holiday😂
