Music Monday (2)

Last week I shared a favourite from my teen years (which I still love) and this week I decided to share a newer and very different song that I’ve been enjoying.

I’ve been trying to teach my boys Spanish, probably since they were born.  All the ‘experts’ say that the first three to five years are the most impressionable so I’ve really tried with them.  I tried little made up songs, favourite cartoons but in Spanish and plain old begging!  Nothing!  In the beginning they’d humour me and count, learn the colours and even parts of the body.  But later on I got flat out “I don’t want to learn Spanish.  Put Paw Patrol back on English please.”

*sigh*

But then… Despacito came out and suddenly the two older boys were all excited for me to teach them how to sing it and now thought learning Spanish was cool.  I had to choose very carefully which lyrics I taught them, but anyway… Now Mi Gente by  J Balvin and Willy William is out (I had no idea who they were before this… but that’s just me… sorry…) and the offspring want to learn this one too.  It’s catchy, I like it and the lyrics are less saucy than Desapcito.

So, here’s to teaching them Spanish any way I can.

What are you listening to today?

    1. Hahaha. Well I realize that I am about to be introduced to a whole lot of new music by these two children of mine… jeez!
      Yeah; really raunchy! 🙈😄

On the bright side, they also liked some Oasis songs I played for them 😁

  1. I like listening to Spanish in a popular song. If I’m reading blogs, blogging, making cards, or sewing, I have to listen to jazz or classical so I can concentrate. Sometimes I’ll listen to a Spotify playlist that is in another language which works the same way also. If I’m doing cooking prep, I blast my Jams playlist of songs I can hear even though they’re years old.
