The Inside Out Tag | Book Tag

Thank you to Kelly over at Just Another Book in the Wall for this tag. Go check out her page which covers YA book reviews and general fun bookish discussions.  I followed the cross-blog threads but I could not find the creator of the tag.  If you know who it is, please leave a link.

Let’s get to the questions!

A Book That Brings You Joy

Harry Potter… as in any Harry Potter book from the first seven.  I’m a huge fan and unashamedly so.  I started reading them only when I was about 21 and the first four, I think, had already been published.  After that I was in line to purchase every book as it was released.  I think that was just as much fun as reading the book!

A Book That Brings You Sadness

My Sister’s Keeper  by Jodi Picoult.  Although I could probably substitute that with just about any Jodi Picoult book. Seriously!  Those books need to come with some sort of warning.  I rarely read her books anymore as my heart just can’t bear it.

A Book That Makes You Angry

I can’t answer this one. Not that I don’t want to. I can’t as I’ve forgotten the name of the book.  Might have purposely done that too.  I read this book that features a car accident pretty early on.  Anyway, car crashes into a lake or some body of water, protagonist comes out, recovers and moves on with her life.  She has, you know, a full life. Gets older, marries, children, job, everything. Except it’s all a lie! She died in the bleeping car accident at the start of the book and then there’s this whole flipping book about the life she would have led if she hadn’t died… What???!!!! Why??!!!! I wasted valuable time reading a book about the life that wasn’t.  Some people might find that intriguing and a cool plot twist.  I’m not one of those people! It just pî$séd me off.  Hmm… maybe I’m still recovering from that book.

A Book That Disgusts You

This one is a bit of an odd answer.  When I was pregnant with my first baby and even while dealing with each of my boys as newborns I read books about how to care for newborns.  Any of the books that treated a newborn as someone who had to be ‘trained’ to conform to the parents’ needs or lifestyle, really turned me off.  I don’t want to highlight any one in particular as there were redeeming qualities to each and the suggestions probably worked for some people.  But for me, I really didn’t like the attitude that came across.

A Book That Brings You Fear

IT by Stephen King.  Honestly, I’ve never read it.  When I was very young the tv mini-series aired.  I was spending that week at my grandparents’ house and I think they assumed I was asleep while they watched it… but noooo…. I was most certainly awake.  Let’s just say I’ve never had the desire to watch a horror movie or read a horror story after that.  I think I still get nervous just seeing Pennywise pictures.

  2. I’ve got to read Stephen King’s “It,” It’s on my TBR pile, but I keep putting it aside because it’s sooo long. I may just have to pick it up after I finish the book I’m reading now. Interesting tag. I might have to play the next time you do it. 🙂
